Google May be Your Best Diet Buddy

It is estimated that between 50 and 80 million Americans go on diets each year. The desire to lose weight and keep the pounds off is a common one, but it is a struggle that many find challenging. In order to lose weight, you simply need to burn more calories on a regular basis than you take in. However, determining how many calories you are burning and consuming on a daily basis can be a challenge. Fortunately, Google may have all of the answers and insight you need to lose your weight and keep it off.

Analyzing Your Diet

With a basic Google search, you can easily learn the caloric and nutritional content of almost every food you may eat. Of course, the nutritional facts of some foods is easy to determine. After all, you simply have to read the nutritional labels on the foods in your fridge and pantry to learn how many calories, how much fat and more you are taking in through your meals and snacks. Not everything you eat will have a label, though. For example, how much fat is in the steak you grilled last night? How many calories are in the burger you ordered from the restaurant at lunch today? With a quick Google search, you can access nutritional content of fresh fruits and veggies, different cuts of meat, meals and snacks at restaurants and more. Further, there are even a few websites that allow you to track your food intake so that you don’t have to keep a running tally on your own.

Calculating Your Calorie Burn

Of course, analyzing how healthy your diet is and computing your caloric intake for a given day is only one aspect of dieting that you need to monitor. The other aspect of dieting pertains to monitoring how many calories you burn on a regular basis. You burn calories throughout the day simply by walking through your daily routine, performing basic functions and more. However, some activities may burn more than others. Opting to take the stairs over the elevator, taking a walk over your lunch break and more all will have a greater impact on the number of calories you burn during the day. You can use Google to research how many calories a specific activity burned for you. Keep a tally of the calories you have burned during the day through all of your activities.

Through these efforts and as your day progresses, you can easily see if you are burning more calories than you are taking in. If so, you are on the right track and can feel proud of your efforts. If you have taken in more calories than you have burned for the day, you may consider taking a walk, a light jog, a bike ride or doing some other calorie burning activity after dinner in order to keep your weight loss efforts in check.
