Insomnia is termed as a medical disease that can means the person diagnosed with this cannot sleep, sometimes for days at a time. There are many different things these people do to cope with insomnia.

Avoiding caffeine is one of the five rules that one should do. Drinking caffeine during the day will lead to being restless at night. The reason that this keeps people with insomnia awake is because this drug is a stimulant meaning that it keeps your mind going and keeps the body in the urge of “going.”

Going to sleep at the same time every night will help your body understand that it needs to go to sleep at that time every night. Every night well get easier to fall asleep but it may take a little bit for the body to adjust. After a week or so your body will start to feel drowsiness set in. Making this a regular routine will help to stop your bouts of insomnia after time.

Try doing aromatherapy to help with keeping your insomnia in check. This is the use of oils and aromas to bring a person’s mind and body at ease. Line your bedroom and linens with oils that help promote relaxation to bring you into a nice and easy sleep. Oils that are used to help induce sleep or bring it about easier are lavender and chamomile.

Getting that night urge to have something to eat or drink should also be avoided. Stress and the insomnia cause you to eat or drink. Unfortunately this does not do anything to help you fall asleep but makes your sleeping troubles much worse. To help with falling asleep plan your last meal at least 3 hours before you go to sleep. Another thing to avoid before heading to sleep is drinks that are very heavy in liquor. This really throws off your sleeping patters because you will maybe get a nap or two instead of getting a full night’s sleep.

The last rule is to make lists. A lot of time people are still awake because they are lying in bed thinking of all the stuff they have to do tomorrow. People feel they should not sleep because there are not enough house in the day to do everything. Before you lay down for the night write out all the items you want to accomplish the next day.

New sleep habits can be hard to make but can come after some hard work.
